BEDS
We’ll provide Holland America Line with your bed configuration preferences. The beds in the stateroom can either be set up as one larger bed or split into two separate beds. When you first get to your stateroom, if your bed isn’t configured as you wish, simply ask your Stateroom Attendant to reconfigure it and they’ll either put them together to form the larger bed or break them apart to form two smaller beds.
If you don’t meet your Room Attendant before you begin exploring the ship, Holland America provides a nifty little form that’ll be in your room upon embarkation that you can fill out and hang on your stateroom door. This form not only covers bed set-up preferences, but also allows you to request the following:
- Extra Pillows
- Extra Blanket
- Extra Towels
- Extra Hangers
- An Extension Cord
- A Bathrobe
- Ice Refill – Morning
- Ice Refill – Evening
- Evening Turndown Service
- A Sharps Container
Any other requests can be made through HAL’s Navigator App or by calling Guest Services by dialing 90 from your in-room phone.
BEVERAGE PACKAGES
VACAYA has worked very closely with Holland America to create an Unlimited Beverage Package for our charter. None has ever existed before with Holland America. Their typical packages are capped at 15 drinks per day. This one, created for VACAYA, is UNLIMITED and we hope will form the basis for a new standard for future Holland America charters.
Here are a few things to keep in mind as you consider purchasing this new Unlimited Beverage Package:
- NO ONE is forced to purchase a package. It’s completely optional. Drinks can still be purchased one at a time at every bar.
- There’s no mechanism in place for not having BOTH roommates on an unlimited package. It forms the absolute core of every single cruise line’s policy. This is done to eliminate fraud and abuse, where one person buys a package, the other doesn’t, and the one person who did buy the package “buys” drinks on their package for the person who didn’t. We’ve been unbelievably transparent on this front since we first started offering unlimited beverage packages. The “doctor’s note” provides the ONE out for this bedrock policy. This is an exception VACAYA has negotiated for our guests. Without the exception, their policy of everyone in the same stateroom being required to buy a like package is absolute, no exceptions whatsoever. So, yes… VACAYA did negotiate this “out” for our guests, and we did so proudly.
- The price of Unlimited Beverage Packages on EVERY cruise line is a bit of an equation, where each person must determine whether the price is worth it for them. If someone’s not a heavy drinker (and that includes cocktails, wine, beer, water, sodas, coffees, etc.), then it’s NOT a good value. If they are, it is. But each person must decide that for themselves and their roommate.
- The primary reason for Holland America creating this all-new package for us was because of the slow drink service on our 2025 Alaska Cruise. Because HAL’s standard packages are limited to 15 drinks per day, those drinks must be tracked, counted, and logged each time a drink is ordered, which is what slowed down service immensely. So, HAL has completely eliminated the need to track and log beverages, ensuring that service isn’t slowed down. Now, you simply walk up to the bar, show your card, and receive your drink – no paperwork involved. This is especially critical when everyone on board shows up at a party/event/show within 15 minutes, all wanting a drink at roughly the same time.
- VACAYA is the only charter company out there offering these packages. The reasons our competitors don’t is because “everyone thinks they know better” in how they could/should be run and it ends up just being “too hard.” There are multiple challenges behind-the-scenes that must be accounted for in order to offer these packages. At VACAYA, we actually do the work to make it possible, where other companies simply say “no.” Yes, there are rules of the road that everyone must abide by, but there’s simply no way to offer this without those rules in place.
To purchase or not to purchase is entirely up to you. If you think it’s a good value for what you get in terms of beverages, time, etc., then we recommend it. If you don’t think it’s a good value, purchasing each drink individually is still an option. No matter the narratives that develop in social media, absolutely no one is twisting your arm either way. We simply want ease and to get a drink in your hands as quickly as possible. Now, bottom’s up!
CELLULAR SERVICES AT SEA
To avoid exorbitant mobile service charges while at sea, we recommend turning your phone to Airplane Mode when we’re not docked. If you don’t, you’ll automatically connect to “Cellular At Sea,” which has truly astounding per-MB rates for data/calls. Even if you’re not actively searching the web, most phones automatically download emails and refresh webpages in the background, and that could easily escalate to hundreds or even thousands of dollars in extra mobile charges from your provider.
CHECKING IN ONLINE IN ADVANCE
Your Holland America Booking Number allows you to check-in and book everything from beverage packages and spa services to specialty dining and excursions. It will be emailed to you by VACAYA once it’s been generated by Holland America. Please note that this number is different from your VACAYA confirmation number, and everyone in your stateroom has the same Holland America Booking Number.
You can check in and book cruise extras online until February 11, but we don’t recommend waiting until the last minute. Handling these important items now will make for a much more relaxed vacation experience.
Before you begin, please have all the following information for ALL guests you’re checking in:
- Holland America Booking Number
- Full Legal Name
- Passport Number
- Passport Expiration Date
- Home Address
- Emergency Contact Name with Address and Phone Number
- Flight Details (this is especially important for departures from Fort Lauderdale on February 21; disembarkation time slots will be determined from this info)
- Credit Card for your Onboard Expense Account
Once you’ve gathered all the information listed above, you’re ready to begin:
- Go to https://www.hollandamerica.com/
- Go to “Manage My Cruise”
- Go to “Check-In”

Once you’ve entered this information and click “Log In,” you’ll see your Reservation Summary along with your room number. There are six steps you’ll need to complete. Please follow the instructions provided online. Once you’ve completed all the steps, proceed to print your Express Documents. Below are some helpful tips that may help during registration.
Go through the following steps to complete the online check-in:
- Cruise Contract Form (accept the Holland America Terms and Conditions; must be completed prior to sailing)
- Guest Info
- Passport details
- Flights
- Contacts
- Accounts (register credit card)
- Cruise Contract Page – This will show who accepted the applicable Cruise Contract form for each guest. You’ll be able to click on this page to view the documents later if you wish to refer back to them.
- Download the HAL Navigator App on your phone (iPhone or Android). You can retrieve your digital boarding pass via the app to expedite embarkation at the pier.
- Click on documents and print documents. This is also where you can print luggage tags.
How to print cruise documents and Holland America luggage tags (available up to 72 hours prior to sailing):
- Go to https://www.hollandamerica.com/
- Go to “Manage My Cruise”
- Go to “Check-In”

- Go to “Manage My Cruise”
- Under “Build Your Experience,” select the desired category
- Use the right side of the page – “Log In With Booking Number”

Once you select the item you wish to book, click “add to cart” and check out. Your credit card will be charged and the activity will be added to your itinerary.
- Reminder: shore excursions, spa, and specialty dining can also be booked via the HAL Navigator App.
You can explore all the available excursions in Holland America’s eBrochure HERE.
IMPORTANT NOTE: VACAYA is unable to assist with technical issues with online check-in or the purchasing of extras. These systems are entirely run by Holland America. So, if you need assistance, please contact HAL directly at the following numbers:
- Online Check-in assistance, dietary needs, specific cabin needs, or general questions: +1.800.426.0327
- Guest Accessibility, ADA needs, Scooters, Wheelchairs, CPAP water, etc: +1.800.547.8493
- Shore Excursions: +1.888.425.9376
- Onboard Amenities such as Spa, Internet, Beverage Packages, Cabana Rentals, Restaurant Reservations, etc: +1.800.541.1576
*A Note About Pier-Side Check-In: With an early sail time (3pm on Feb 14), it’s important we get close to 100% of our guests registered online in advance. At the pier, it takes an average of 7 minutes to check a guest in starting from Square One. Doing some quick math with thousands of guests, you can quickly understand how that can lead to an interminably long wait for everyone to get on the ship. So, we encourage you to take care of these important steps in advance.
CLOTHING OPTIONAL SUN DECK
VACAYA offers a clothing optional space onboard where sun lovers can sunbathe in the nude. This area is accessed via the Forward Elevators and is on Deck 14 Forward. The clothing optional sun deck is only available on Sea Days AND when we’re in Half Moon Cay (from 10:30am-7pm).
While in our ports of call, swimsuits are required on the upper decks.
NUDIE TOWN – CODE OF CONDUCT
No sex in this space. Keep that confined to your stateroom or the Red Light District.
No Cameras.
The closest bar is down one deck in Crow’s Nest. Please cover up before heading down.
The closest restroom is also located one deck down near Crow’s Nest.
BREAKING NEWS!!!! In addition to Nudie Town on board, we’ll also feature a clothing optional beach on Half Moon Cay. To get to it, simply make your way to the beach and walk to the right about 50 meters past the last cabana. Look for the VACAYA flags in the sand. They’ll denote the start of the clothing optional beach.
CURRENCY
US Dollars are accepted throughout our itinerary.
DOCUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS
A valid passport is required of all travelers.
Visas are not required for US Citizens, but may be required of other nationalities.
Guests from countries that require a visa MUST obtain a valid visa before leaving home. Laws do not allow a guest who requires a visa to board the ship without required visa(s). SPECIAL NOTE: Even if you’re told you won’t need a visa if you plan to stay on the ship, this is NOT TRUE. If a visa is required of your nationality, you MUST have a visa even if you plan to stay on the ship.
United States Permanent Residents who possess an Alien Registration Card (Green Card) do NOT require a visa.
These travel documentation requirements are government regulations and policies. They are subject to change without notice. It is the sole responsibility of each guest to identify and obtain all required travel documents and have them available when necessary. These appropriate valid travel documents (such as passports and visas) are required for boarding, entry into other countries, and reentry into the United States.
We strongly recommend that all guests travel with a passport that’s valid for at least six (6) months beyond the end of their cruise. This greatly assists guests who may need to fly out of the United States to meet their ship at the next available port should they miss their scheduled embarkation in a U.S. port; guests entering the U.S. at the end of their cruise; and guests needing to fly to the U.S. before their cruise ends, because of medical, family, personal, or business emergencies, missing a ship’s departure from a port of call, involuntary disembarkation from a ship due to misconduct, or other reasons.
The name on your VACAYA reservation must match the name on your passport or other identification documents.
Guests who do not possess the proper documentation will be denied boarding.
Unfortunately, no refunds will be given to individuals who are denied boarding due to improper documentation.
A SPECIAL NOTE TO RUSSIAN, BELARUSSIAN, CUBAN, IRANIAN, NORTH KOREAN, SYRIAN, & UKRAINIAN (OCCUPIED AREAS) PASSPORT HOLDERS
Carnival Corporation, parent company of Holland America Line, requires full compliance with U.S., U.K., and E.U. sanctions laws and has adopted strict policies regarding guests from “Prohibited Jurisdictions,” including Russia, Belarus, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and the occupied regions of Ukraine. Guests who are nationals of these countries may only sail if they can prove permanent residency outside these regions through valid government ID and recent proof of residency. Anyone who is ordinarily resident in a Prohibited Jurisdiction is not allowed to sail under any circumstances, even if they hold a passport or visa from another country or if someone else outside the region books and pays for their trip.
DRAG BRUNCH
Darling, the VACAYA Vixens have spoken and Drag Brunch is officially that girl on this sailing!
Thanks to its runaway popularity (and the undeniable fact that everyone wants a front-row view of our queens), the VACAYA Vixens are back with not one, but TWO unforgettable Drag Brunches aboard Nieuw Statendam, each complete with Bottomless Mimosas and maximum fabulousness.
Because our venue has limited sightlines and we believe every seat should feel like the best seat, attendance is capped at 360 guests per brunch. Translation: when seats are gone, they’re gone, gurl.
Choose Your Brunch Date
- February 17 @ 10:30am
Check-in begins at 10:00am | Show starts at approximately 11am - February 19 @ 11:00am
Check-in begins at 10:30am | Show starts at approximately 11:30am
Important Notes
- The performances will be the same at both brunches, so pick the date that best fits your schedule.
- Each seat is $30 and includes Bottomless Mimosas (with a non-alcoholic mimosa option for those who don’t drink).
- Beyond the included mimosas, full bar service will be available, allowing you to use your drink package or order a la carte.
- Our queens work hard for your entertainment. While not required, cash tips are always appreciated, so consider bringing a little cold, hard cash to show your love during the performances. We’ll also have Venmo links available.
Starter:
- Mango & Banana Vanilla Greek Yogurt Parfait (Vegan)

BUT WAIT… want to attend for FREE?
Oh yes, you read that correctly.
First, purchase your seat online as described above. THEN, if you arrive at Drag Brunch dressed in full drag as the opposite sex, we’ll refund your $30 as an onboard credit, processed right at check-in for your brunch. It’s our way of rewarding your bravery and creativity (and you might just end up in the show!). And don’t forget…
Every drag queen needs a GREAT drag name, so… whether you’ve been waiting your whole life to debut Shirley U. Jest, Gloria Whole, or Captain Tuck Sparrow, this is your moment! Pick a name. Commit to the bit. And walk in like you’ve done this a thousand times, or like it’s your first time and you’re just wildly overconfident. Both are correct.
VACAYA brunches are bold, bubbly, and unapologetically ours, and with limited seating, we highly recommend securing your spot TODAY.
We’ll see you in the Main Dining Room… lashes on, glasses raised. 🥂
DRESS CODE
DAY: The average highs in this region during February are in the low to mid 80s Fahrenheit and around 27 Celsius. That being said, we’ve seen highs in the low 90s on past trips, as well as highs in the upper 60s.
NIGHT: VACAYA’s dress code is “Evening Chic” – smart and stylish. But what does that actually mean?
Dress pants/designer jeans, collared shirts, cocktail dresses, and skirts with a nice top fit the bill perfectly.
We never want to limit your creative freedom as far as dress is concerned, so know that there are no hard and fast rules in regard to what’s acceptable and what’s not. But here are some specific recommendations that will help you decide what’s most appropriate for Wsterdam’s elegant and casual dining spaces throughout the evening:
- Tank Tops in the Main Restaurants for dinner aren’t the best choice. Let’s be real… only a few of us (and we applaud you fetishists) would want to see a hairy armpit while enjoying filet mignon and lobster.
- Dress Shorts are ok in the Main Restaurants for dinner. Swimsuits are not.
- Dress Sandals are ok in all restaurants for dinner. Flip-flops? Not so much.
- If you’d like to keep your dress super casual for dinner, Lido Market provides a perfect dining choice. And flip-flops are a-ok around the clock in Lido Market.
- Shorts and T-shirts are discouraged in the elevated dining experiences of Pinnacle Grill, Rudi’s Sel de Mar, Taste of De Librije, or Canaletto.
PARTIES: Our theme parties will provide you with endless opportunities to show off your style with imaginative costumes. Just keep in mind that your penis and balls and your vagina have to be covered. But by all means don’t be afraid of the exciting world of sheer fabrics… we love them! Because Lido Market will be open late into the night (and we know you’re going to want a burger at 2am), we ask that if you’re wearing a costume that exposes your butt cheeks, that you wrap a towel around yourself while dining. Towels will be available near the entrance of the dining hall.
THE POOL DECK: Just like with the men, women are allowed to use the Lido Pool or Sea View Pool topless. If anyone would like to sunbathe fully nude, please use our Clothing Optional Sun Deck while at sea. Please note that nude sunbathing is not allowed on the Clothing Optional Sun Deck when we’re docked alongside the pier.

GETTING TO NIEUW STATENDAM ON FEBRUARY 14
Nieuw Statendam will be docked at Terminal 26 at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale.
As always, the pier assignment can change at any time. Please check the board as you enter Port Everglades to confirm the docking position.
With eight ships in port and nearly 30K people attempting to get to them, it can take up to an hour to get through the Port Everglades guard gates. Traffic can sometimes feel impossibly slow. However, eventually you will get through. To expedite your processing at the port guard gates, please have the passports of everyone in your group in-hand.
Terminal 26 will open for check-in at 9:30am, with boarding scheduled to begin by 11:30am. All aboard is 2:30pm, with Nieuw Statendam sailing at 4pm sharp.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Your Holland America Navigator App will still show 3pm as our sail time, but that’s changed. We’re sailing an hour later than originally planned because of the final positioning of the ships within Port Everglades, where other ships must set sail before we can maneuver into position to leave. All aboard is 2:30pm and you’ll be enjoying the upper decks by the time we set sail after our neighboring Celebrity ship takes off.
GRATUITIES
100% of your prepaid gratuities go to onboard staffers, including your stateroom attendant, the culinary services staff, the behind-the-scenes hotel services staff, and the myriad department heads who work with their teams around the clock to create a flawless VACAYA experience for you.
A 20% gratuity is added to all beverage purchases, specialty dining purchases, and spa/salon services. If you purchase one of Holland America’s Beverage Packages, remember that you’ve already paid the gratuity when purchasing your package. No further gratuity is required, but additional gratuities are always appreciated.
A Note About Additional Tipping: As a community, we are extremely generous. We eagerly recognize outstanding individual service with a few extra dollars here and there. Of course, no extra monetary recognition is ever required, but when you take the time to say “thank you” and offer that 3am room service attendant or your favorite bartender a couple dollars, know that it’s always immensely appreciated by the crew members you recognize.
INTERNET ACCESS

LANYARDS
When boarding Nieuw Statendam, you’ll be greeted by several V Team members who’ll give you a choice of 3 different colored lanyards – red, yellow, or green. Not only will the lanyard hold your room key card (especially helpful when in a swimsuit without pockets), but it’ll also help tell a part of your story at a glance:
RED – I’m happily taken and off the market, but definitely open to new friends.
YELLOW – I’m magical and mysterious. Ask for my deets.
GREEN – I’m open and ready to mingle.
We recognize you’ll be making a lanyard decision on Day 1 that might look a little different by Day 3. If you decide later that you’d like a different color, please swing by the VACAYA Hospitality Desk when open (hours are listed in your daily program) and we’ll be happy to offer an alternative while supplies last.
LUGGAGE HANDLING & ISSUES
If your luggage doesn’t arrive with you at the airport, be sure to file a claim with your airline and make sure they understand you’re getting on a cruise ship. It’s also wise to provide them with a copy of your itinerary. Once onboard Nieuw Statendam, be sure to let the Guest Services Team know your bag has been delayed. This will help immensely in getting your bags to our ever-moving ship.
When you arrive at the Port Everglades Terminal, you will hand off your luggage to the porters at the taxi drop-off. Before handing off your bags, be sure each bag is properly tagged to your stateroom. When you check in online in advance of the cruise, you’ll also be able to print luggage tags. We recommend waiting to arrive in Fort Lauderdale BEFORE placing those tags on your luggage. This will help ensure they don’t get ripped off during your flights.
It usually takes between 4-6 hours from the moment you hand over your luggage to the pier-side porters until the bags arrive to your stateroom. If your luggage hasn’t arrived by 8pm, reach out to Guest Services on Deck 3 mid-ship. They will do their best to track down your bags. Usually, the reason for a piece of luggage not making its way to your room is that the identifying tag was ripped off at some point in the transfer from pier to ship. These untagged bags are placed in corral awaiting identification.
MEDICAL SERVICES
Basic medical services are available onboard. The Medical Center is located on A Deck. Their opening hours will be posted in the ship’s daily program. 24-hour emergency services are also available.
VACAYA recommends that you consult with your primary physician before sailing if you’re experiencing any serious or chronic medical issues. The onboard medical team can provide basic services for illnesses/injuries that may occur onboard. They are also able to diagnose and stabilize most emergency situations. If you require emergency services that can only be provided by a shore-side facility, transfers can be arranged. Please note, however, that while sailing, transfers may be affected by weather or other logistical considerations.
Quarantines: The health and safety of guests and crew is of paramount importance. And on rare occasions, the medical team may decide your condition requires you to be quarantined to your room. This is most common when highly contagious gastrointestinal illnesses like Norovirus are diagnosed. We’ve all heard the stories of hundreds of cruise passengers falling ill with stomach issues like Norovirus and the like. Based on Center for Disease Control guidelines, quarantine is the medical team’s best defense in stopping the spread of viruses such as this. If you’re quarantined, we will do our very best to make you as comfortable as possible for the duration of your quarantine.
MEETUPS
VACAYA is all about connections. And we’ll host different professional and interest group meetups throughout the week, giving you the chance to come together with others who share like interests. We’ll also host twice-daily 12-step meetings. It’s time to make some new friends!

PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEOGRAPHY ONBOARD
Guests looking to preserve their cruise memories may encounter onboard photo and video documentarians in the form of the Holland America Line photo team and the VACAYA media team.
For the most immediate access to photos from your vacation, look out for the HAL-badged photographers onboard. HAL offers an extensive range of photography services for guests to capture and preserve memories of their cruise. Trained photographers are on hand to capture every special moment of the vacation, from formal portraits to candid shots around the ship. There are a variety of packages available, ranging from single prints to digital packages, to cater to different budgets and preferences. Special events, such as parties and shore excursions, can also be commemorated with specially designed photo packages. The photos are captured using high-quality cameras and equipment, ensuring they are of professional quality. The photo desk staff, located on Deck 3 Mid is available to assist guests in choosing the right package and scheduling a photo session that fits their schedule.
VACAYA also has a media team onboard to document the overall guest experience for our photo and video archives. The main goal of this team is to showcase the VACAYA brand to current and potential guests through our website, social media, and marketing communications. Their work is critical in helping us achieve our vision of becoming the #1 global brand in LGBT+ vacations. While they’ll be capturing the guest experience, it’s important to keep in mind that they are not specifically there to serve as individual photographers for guests. If you’re looking for personal photos and videos from your vacation, the HAL photo team is available to provide professional photography services and capture stunning, high-quality memories of your time onboard.
At VACAYA and Holland America Line, we understand some guests may prefer not to have their photos taken during their cruise. We respect your privacy and your right to decline photography services. If you prefer not to participate in either the HAL photo services or the VACAYA media team’s documentation of the guest experience, simply let our photographers or media team members know your preference.

REACHOUT
At VACAYA, travel has always been about more than seeing the world. It’s about connection, community, and a deep belief that wherever we go, we should leave it a little better than when we arrived.
That belief is what gave rise to VACAYA’s ReachOUTprogram, and over time, ReachOUT has become part of our company DNA. And ReachOUT’s mission has never been more important than it is today as our world and our community face unprecedented challenges.
If you’ve traveled with VACAYA before, you already know this well. You’ve seen how ReachOUT brings our community together to support local organizations, uplift meaningful causes, and create positive impact in the places that welcome us.
And if this is your first voyage with VACAYA, welcome. You’re joining a community that believes extraordinary travel should also carry purpose. ReachOUT is one of the ways we live that belief, and once you experience it firsthand, you’ll quickly understand why it means so much to us.
This year, we’re doing ReachOUT a little differently, and we couldn’t be more excited to share why.
For this sailing, our ReachOUT initiative will support Stonewall National Museum & Archives in Fort Lauderdale. While many past ReachOUT efforts have focused outward on children’s organizations around the world, this year we’re intentionally turning our support inward. Across the globe, visible symbols of queer life and pride are being challenged, removed, or erased. Rainbow sidewalks are painted over, flags are taken down, and public expressions of LGBTQ+ identity are increasingly treated as something to hide rather than celebrate. In response, we’re choosing to stand firmly in visibility, memory, and gratitude. By supporting Stonewall, we honor the history, resistance, and courage that made our lives and freedoms possible, and we recommit ourselves to protecting that legacy for generations still to come.
About the Stonewall National Museum & Archives
Located in Fort Lauderdale, the Stonewall National Museum & Archives is one of the largest LGBTQ+ archives in the world. It serves as a living record of our history, resilience, and progress, and a powerful reminder of why visibility, preservation, and education continue to matter.
How You Can Help
We invite you to participate in this year’s ReachOUT initiative by donating in any of the following ways:
- Online at: https://swshop.stonewall-museum.org/
- Via QR code available at the VACAYA Hospitality Desk on board (Deck 3 near Guest Services)
- Cash donations are also welcome on board
Every contribution helps ensure that LGBTQ+ history is preserved, protected, and shared for generations to come.
Thank you for continuing to show up, give back, and support the community that supports us all. Together, we don’t just travel the world. We help shape it for the better.
With gratitude,
RED LIGHT DISTRICT
One of the most talked-about and celebrated spaces aboard VACAYA’s big-ship cruises is our Red Light District (RLD). For 2026, powered by Key West’s iconic Island House as they celebrate 50 years of fabulous, the RLD returns fully reimagined and more intoxicating than ever before!
The RLD aboard Nieuw Statendam has evolved into the sexiest nightclub at sea – a bold, unapologetic expression of our progressive views on pleasure, connection, and freedom. Open Nights 2-6 from 11pm until late (weather permitting, of course), the RLD is your after-hours playground.
When the main party winds down at the Lido Pool, the night is far from over. The energy simply slips behind the red curtain, where New York’s own DJ Matthew J and friends take over, keeping the beats and the bodies moving well into the wee hours. This is our official after-hours club, and it’s bigger, bolder, and more immersive than ever before.
Inside, you’ll find three dedicated, slightly more discreet play spaces (think European backroom vibes), while the entire RLD remains open for dancing, flirting, exploring, and indulging. Feeling frisky on the dance floor? That’s part of the magic here in the RLD. Do your thing.
One of our three dedicated spaces is specifically for our Transcend guests – Women, Trans, and Non-Binary Vacayans and friends – creating a welcoming, affirming space to relax, connect, and enjoy the experience together.
Just outside the entrance of the RLD on the port-side of Deck 11 Mid, you’ll find a satellite bar – perfect for grabbing a cocktail and lingering in the glow of anticipation. Comfortable seating surrounds the entrance so you can sip, socialize, and people-watch. This bar will be open until 2am. After 2am, the party’s closest pour continues at the Seaview Pool Bar (not terribly far away on Deck 9 Aft), which will remain open until there are no more Vacayans milling about.
At VACAYA, we believe sex-progressiveness thrives when everyone’s an equal partner in creating a safe, respectful, and wildly fun environment. To that end, a few non-negotiables keep the RLD extraordinary for all:
- Consent is EVERYTHING and the ultimate turn-on.
- “No” always means “No.” No exceptions.
- No cameras. Ever.
- Respect boundaries, spaces, and each other… always.
- Do not insert yourself into interactions or groups you haven’t been invited into, especially repeatedly (don’t be that person)
- If you see something that feels off, say something.*
- When in doubt, ask first and listen fully to the answer.
- Clean up after yourself (trash cans are located throughout the space).
- Nudity is welcome inside the RLD; once you step outside, please ensure all bits are covered.
Floating effortlessly through the RLD are your hosts – David, Adam, and Veronica. They’re your confident guides, calm anchors, and knowing eyes after dark. Whether you have a question, a concern, or just need a little guidance, they’re always nearby and happy to help. You’ll find them stationed at a table just outside the RLD’s main entrance and roaming throughout the space all night long, ensuring the vibe stays playful, respectful, and exactly as delicious as it should be.
The Red Light District is many things: provocative, liberating, and unforgettably fun. What it’s not is careless. Together, we create an atmosphere where curiosity and confidence coexist with respect and trust.
For a deeper look at what awaits behind the red curtain, visit: https://www.myvacaya.com/discover/red-light-district/
*By far, the most common concern we hear arises when someone inserts themselves into interactions or groups where they’ve not been invited, particularly when this behavior is repeated. If you experience or witness conduct that feels inappropriate or violates our shared standards of respect, please notify an RLD host or staff leader immediately. All reports are handled with discretion and confidentiality. VACAYA has zero tolerance for retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith or reports a potential violation of our Code of Conduct.
GENERAL RULES OF THE ROAD
Be polite and respectful.
This should go without saying, but no means no. Whether that “no” is verbal, physical, or simply one’s attitude, if someone seems disinterested, leave them alone. Don’t try to initiate play if someone is walking away, shaking their head, pushing your hand away, or otherwise declining via body language. Don’t be pushy or rude. You’ll be asked to leave the space if you are.
Understand that consent is sometimes non-verbal.
To put a finer point on the above: if someone is blindfolded and on all fours, they’re likely giving you non-verbal consent to have sex with them. If a guy is standing there with his dick in his hand, he’s giving you non-verbal consent to approach and likely give him oral sex. If, however, anyone pulls away or otherwise signals a change in intent, that means they’ve declined consent, too.
These are obvious situations and pretty common, but if you’re ever unsure, it’s always acceptable to ask. Other situations, however, may not be so clear. Be aware of your body language and the body language of others, and remember that non-verbal consent gets harder to read when alcohol is involved.
That being said, please understand when entering a play space like the Red Light District, a certain degree of consent is waived.
If you walk into a space where people are having sex, you waive a degree of consent. That’s the reality of the situation. Of course, you still retain the ability to deny consent; if someone touches you, you can gently rebuff them or move their hand away. Anonymous groping and touching is a feature of these spaces, and by entering them, you will all but certainly face it. Please keep this simple rule in mind: don’t be an asshole. Don’t push yourself on someone if they’re clearly denying consent.
Understand that not everyone reads body language the same way.
If you’re in the Red Light District where talking is at a minimum and body language is the primary mode of communication, you run the risk of misreading someone’s intent – a risk everyone assumes by being there. If you have to be more direct with someone, open your mouth and speak. There is a big difference between misreading someone’s body language and ignoring a direct, verbal “no.” If the latter occurs, tell the V Team members who’ll be present at the RLD each night. Disrespecting consent isn’t sexy; it’s harassment. And pushing it too far could be criminal.
Don’t let rejection ruin your night.
Some people will want to play with you, some simply won’t. The person you’ve been looking at all night may not be in to you, and that’s okay. Accept it, and know that’s part of the reality of every play space.
Never talk about who you saw at the Red Light District, and never take photos or videos.
The Red Light District is a place people go to be uninhibited, to break loose from the morals and judgement of society, and fulfill their sexual fantasies. Respecting the privacy of others is key to maintaining that atmosphere. Talking about other attendees outside these venues reflects poorly on you, and detracts from the purpose of the space. CAMERAS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE RED LIGHT DISTRICT.
If you choose to have unprotected sex, assume the risks.
All sex carries some risk of HIV/STI transmission, but that risk can be minimized if you take certain precautionary measures, like using condoms or taking PrEP. Even with condoms, you’re still at risk for common sexually transmitted infections, and PrEP only protects you from HIV. This is why the official PrEP page on the CDC’s website states you should use condoms in conjunction with PrEP to protect yourself from infections like syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea.
If you choose not to wear condoms, you obviously have a higher risk of getting an STI than your condom-wearing peers. That’s a simple fact. There’s no shame in it, however. It’s just a fact of sexual life today. If you enjoy anonymous play – no talk, no names, no chatter – you assume even higher risk, and such risk is absolutely part of this kind of experience.
Since risk is unavoidable, there’s no reason to let that reality prevent you from enjoying what you enjoy. Take necessary steps to keep yourself healthy. Get tested frequently. If you’re HIV+, get on meds as soon as possible and take them diligently. HIV+ people who take their medications as prescribed become undetectable, meaning HIV antibody tests can’t detect the virus in their blood, and they are unable to infect their sex partners with HIV, regardless of condom use.
Get tested for HIV and other STIs after the cruise.
If you go into the Red Light District often and regularly have sex there, please get tested after our time together. Frequent testing is how our community reduces the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.
Thank you to Island House for these play space essentials.

SISTER HELEN HOLY CHURCH BINGO
Sister Helen Holy’s Church Bingo isn’t just a game on a VACAYA cruise, it’s a full-blown revival, and one of our most beloved traditions. Step into the pews, clutch your cards, and prepare yourself for a righteous good time as Sister Helen takes the stage to do the Lord’s work… one ball at a time. The tension builds, the congregation gasps, and every one of Sister Helen’s moves feels downright sinful. Balls are gently fondled, numbers are called with authority, and the faithful know that when Sister Helen starts picking, miracles can happen. It’s holy, it’s cheeky, it’s a little bit naughty, and it’s absolutely VACAYA.
There are two sessions of Sister Helen Holy’s Church Bingo:
- Sunday, February 15 @ 2pm
- Thursday, February 19 @ 2pm
Tickets can be purchased at the Casino on Deck 3 from 8:30am-1pm before each session, and are sold on a first come, first served basis. These tickets are ONLY good for the day’s session on which you purchase it. Entrance tickets are $39 and include one bingo card pack. Your ticket grants you access to the World Stage Revival Tent, where doors open at 1pm, an hour before each session begins. Enter from Deck 2 on the Starboard side, queue up like a good parishioner, and collect your bingo cards before finding your perfect pew to watch Helen pick her balls.
Be sure to write your name and room number on your entrance ticket once you purchase it from the Casino. When you exchange it for your bingo card pack at World Stage, your ticket will be placed into the proverbial offering hat, entering you for a chance to win an extraordinary 7-day stay at Island House in Key West. The drawing will take place at the close of the February 19 session, and you need not be present to win – meaning those who enter on February 15 are just as favored in the eyes of Baby Jesus.
Feeling greedy for salvation? Additional bingo cards will be available for purchase at a separate table inside the theater. And one final word to the wise: those in the know always wear a church hat. Coincidence or divine intervention? We can’t really say, but the odds of winning sure seem heaven blessed when you do.
We fully expect the pews to be filled to the rafters for each session. But should any seats remain unclaimed at 1:50pm, all are welcome to come on in, take a seat, and feel the spirit move you.
Whether you come seeking prizes, penance, or just the thrill of watching Sister Helen work her magic, one thing is certain: this isn’t bingo as you know it. It’s spectacle. It’s ritual. It’s a little bit sacrilegious and entirely unforgettable. So, mind your manners, mind your numbers, and above all, keep the faith. When Sister Helen Holy starts calling, salvation may only be one ball away.
Amen.
SMOKING POLICY
At VACAYA, we’ll do our very best to serve both cruisers who smoke and those who don’t. The designated smoking areas onboard Nieuw Statenbdam will be detailed in your daily program, When and Where.
SPECIAL NEEDS
Do you have a special need in regard to mobility, stateroom accommodations (for example, needing a shower stool), dietary restrictions, or medical equipment being brought onboard (for example, a CPAP machine and you’re in need of distilled water)?
If so, Holland America Line has an entire department to handle these types of special requests. You can access their online form HERE. It’s recommended that you make all special needs requests at least 45 days prior to our sailing. However, Holland America will do their very best to accommodate requests that come in later than that recommended date.
If you’re deaf and in need of an ASL Interpreter on the cruise, please alert VACAYA by emailing info@myvacaya.com.

THERMAL SUITE
Daily passes to Nieuw Statendam’s Thermal Suite will be sold onboard starting at 3pm on February 14. A limited number of passes will be available.
Before you purchase a pass, however, please understand this space…
First and foremost, it’s important to get this most crucial of issues out of the way first: the Thermal Suite is NOT a sanctioned play space. It never has been, and it never will be.
Although the Thermal Suite is booked predominantly by men, guests of all genders pay top dollar for massage treatments in the spa – some of which include Thermal Suite access before/after their session as part of the therapy. Spa workers will be coming in and out of the Thermal Suite non-stop to collect those guests. While certainly relaxing and meditative, this is their workspace. It’s NOT a space for sex.
Now, let’s talk “for reals.” We recognize there’s not a sauna or steam room at any gym on earth where guys don’t do guy things. It’s ubiquitous. But everyone also knows there are consequences to being caught doing sexual acts in those spaces. So just don’t. One thing that separates Vacayans apart from every other group of guests out there is that they’re respectful to each other and to the workers who call Westerdam home. We don’t want the spa workers to have to kick anyone out, but they will. And if you’re kicked out for inappropriate behavior, there are no refunds. You lose access and your money.
So, what are your alternatives? Well, VACAYA has created the largest sanctioned play area in LGBT+ cruising with our Red Light District. So, use it. Or if you’ve found “the love of your life” in the steam room, take them back to your room.
VACAYA is striving to create the most welcoming environment on earth for everyone in our community. To do that, though, we need everyone’s care in recognizing that certain spaces – like the Thermal Suite – will be occupied by men, women, and our non-binary guests, all of whom have paid for a spa experience. Don’t make anyone feel uncomfortable by being lewd. It’s not a good look for you or for VACAYA.
We hope you recognize that VACAYA is extremely progressive in our views on sexual expression, and we believe we’ve proven that we don’t beat around the bush on complex topics. We embrace sex and sexuality enthusiastically, but we also recognize when and where it’s appropriate. It is NOT appropriate in the Thermal Suite.

VACAYA QUACK ATTACK
Cruise ducks are BACK, baby, and this time they’re fully VACAYA-fied! After last year’s hit Duck Hunt, we’re bringing our very own flock of VACAYA ducks to spread pure over-the-top joy all cruise long.
Here’s this year’s game: throughout the week, 200 VACAYA ducks will be hidden around the ship, just waiting to be discovered. Spot one, and you’re officially a VACAYA Duck Diva! Snap a picture with your new sidekick and share it in your social media feeds with the hashtags #VACAYA and #VACAYAQuackAttack. No doubt your friends and family back home will get a kick out of how much joy these little fellas bring you.
From there, your duck’s destiny is really up to you:
- Feel free to keep it as a “quacky” souvenir; there’s zero shame in that.
- Hide it again in a new spot so someone else can have the joy of finding it.
- Gift it to your travel mate, a new Vacayan you meet along the way, or one of your favorite cruise buddies as a little token of the VACAYA spirit.
Our 2026 Quack Attack is simple, silly, and joyful. So, let’s have some fun and let the VACAYA Duck Hunt begin!
VACAYA UNDER THE STARS
VACAYA Under the Stars: A New Way to Experience Our Biggest Shows
At VACAYA, we love a packed house, a buzzing room, and that electric moment when the lights go down and the show begins. Our World Stage delivers that magic every night, but this voyage, we’re also leaning into something a little different. Something a little looser. A little louder. And a whole lot more social.
Introducing VACAYA Under the Stars, a special live simulcast viewing experience on the Lido Pool Deck aboard Nieuw Statendam.
Each night, the first performance by our Main Stage entertainers will be broadcast live on the Lido Pool Big Screen. That means you can catch the full show while sipping a cocktail, laughing with friends, and enjoying a more relaxed, high-energy atmosphere under the open sky. This isn’t a quiet theater experience. This is the place for cheers, reactions, refills, and a little extra sparkle.
You’ll be able to enjoy live simulcasts of performances by:
- Ginger Minj – Feb 15 @ 7:30pm
- Adam Pascal & Anthony Rapp – Feb 16 @ 7:30pm
- Brooke Eden – Feb 18 @ 7:30pm
- Jay Jurden – Feb 19 @ 7:30pm
- And our finale night favorite, the That’s All, Folks Variety Show – Feb 20 @ 8pm
To complete the vibe, we’ll have popcorn and pizza available throughout the simulcast, making this the perfect option for Vacayans who want their entertainment served with snacks, drinks, and great company.
If you love a lively crowd, an outdoor party feel, and the freedom to be a bit rowdier while you watch, this space was made for you. It’s not just another place to see the show. It’s an entirely different way to experience it.
